Born in Brownsville, Texas, Kyzandrha adopted the American culture while still being educated about her Mexican and Spanish backgrounds by her parents, Sergio and Consuelo. She began studying dance at age 5 and always had a strong passion for the arts.

While growing up and moving around from city to city, she grew an interest in sharing her culture with her peers and accomplished this by learning the authentic, cultural Spanish dance, Flamenco. No formal classes were taken. Instead, her multi-talented mother taught her in the comfort of their own home. After several public performances, Kyzandrha realized she could reach people through various forms of art and began her pursuit as an artist at the University of North Florida. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design on December 10, 2004.

During her years at UNF, Kyzandrha achieved her dreams of studying abroad in Spain and also

discovered a love for drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, photography, and graphic arts.

Today, Kyzandrha is a full time Graphic Artist at The Florida Times-Union. She is an active member of The Times-Union’s diversity committee as well as the head of their new VELOCITY committee. Kyzandrha is also a small business owner alongside her husband, Jason Pratt. (You can view their website at www.13oranges.com.) After having become a wife in June 2005, her goal was to continue growing as an artist promoting various cultures and modern design.

Any great work of art... revives and readapts time and space, and the measure of its success is the extent to which it makes you an inhabitant of that world - the extent to which it invites you in and lets you breathe its strange, special air.

– Leonard Bernstein
